The department of Prosthetic Dentistry started its undergraduate studies in 1995. PhD program was opened in 2000. In our department, graduate, doctorate and specialization training are given.In bachelor’s degree the students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years spend their educations in the prosthodontics, phantom labs and preclinical practice. The students in the 4th and 5th years they start applying what they learned from the theoretical classes in the clinics with patients. The educational programs in the bachelor’s degree include the science of materials and devices, fixed and removable prosthodontics, introduction of implant supported prosthesis, maxillofacial prosthesis, and clinical application of digital dentistry which are followed by the most recent modern methods.
The doctorate program is 4 years, and the specialty degree is 3 years. The dentists in these years will be able to practice the following subjects:;treatment plan and it’s alternatives, science of materials and their developments, conservative and restorative treatments, conventional metal fused porcelain and full porcelain crowns and bridge, removable prosthesis and implant supported treatments ( fixed ,removable ,hybrid), solutions for unsuccessful restorative and prosthetic treatments, approach for treatment of temporomandibular joint diseases, fixed, removable and implant supported prosthesis produced by digital methods ( CAD/CAM), dental photography, digital smile design, the use of face bow and articulators, maxillofacial prosthesis, temporomandibular diseases treatments and apply them clinically.
In our department we use modern digital technologies that can produce and deliver restorative and prosthetic restorations to the patients at the same day. There are 2 clinics, 1 student laboratory and 1 technician laboratory.
In our department the professors, associate professors, assistants and the teaching stuff work together like a team to make the modern academic projects, researches, posters in different international congress.
